THE CAREFUL TRAVELLER

A The Careful Traveller is a tour operator with a difference. We care about local people as much as we care about our customers! We are also different because we plan journeys that give you time to experience other cultures. If you want the opportunity to see the world through different eyes, to travel to 'be with' the people in their culture, and not just 'look at' and merely photograph a destination, we're the company for you.

B We focus our attention on arranging all the details of your journey so that you don't have to. At the same time, having that basic planning in place allows us to adapt if we are invited into a local home for tea, or come upon some 'can't resist' opportunity. Our leaders and managers recognise the value of responding positively to unforeseen opportunities as they present themselves along the way.

C When we find a leader who has a particular expertise in, and passion for, a particular culture or region that coincides with what we know our travellers are looking for, then we are likely to put a trip together. The leader serves as the bridge to the culture, and his or her only responsibility on the trip is to be available to you. Unlike other travel companies, we also send along a trip manager who works with the local operators and who handles all the details to ensure a smooth and seamless experience.

D We take every precaution we can and work with exceptionally reliable and skilled professionals in each country, people we know we can trust implicitly. In terms of international politics, as the world situation changes we keep in close contact with the Foreign Office and our contacts in the countries. Should we need to cancel a trip, for whatever reason, you will receive a full refund.

E We strongly recommend that you acquire travellers' insurance to provide coverage should you or someone in your family become ill or have an accident. We will provide you with information on insurance and an application once we have received your initial deposit.

F After you send in your initial £300 deposit to reserve your space, you will receive a package of pre-departure information. The materials will include a detailed packing list, information on immunizations, visas, weather and anything else we think you might need as you plan for your particular destination. Also included will be relevant articles and a suggested reading list to help familiarise you with the culture, history and people you will visit.
